New Levy For Streaming Services
I chose to analyze a podcast about the new levy for steaming services "Calls to levy streaming services such as Netflix, Disney and Amazon Prime" by Newstalk with the presenter Shane published on November,2, 2021 at 9.50 a.m.
I think that the introduction is clear, the presenter says all the information of the subject but for me, the introduction can be shorter and introduce directly the speaker.
Shane announces clearly who will be the speaker (Larry Bass : PDG of SHinawil), it’s fluent, for me the transition is good.

Concerning their exchanges, at the beginning, they are well structured but they degrade little by little. Indeed, the content is bad because the two men don't understand each other and don't address the same subject. The podcast is supposed to deal with the new tax of Netflix,... but the speaker focuses on the consequences of taxes in Ireland which is totally out of the question. He compares the situation in different countries instead of getting to the heart of the matter. This lack of understanding creates strong tensions and disordered exchanges which lose the listener.

The main topic is therefore completely forgotten, leaving room for a boring monologue and tense interactions. The presenter indeed tries several times to refocus the speaker on the subject but it's a failure hence the fact that the tone rises and they cut each other off.

According to my, we learn nothing about the subject because only 10% of the podcast is in the theme, the exchanges aren't professional, we notice that it hasn't been worked in advance which could have limited these off-topic.

Finally, the presenter becomes passive and lets Larry talk because he sees that it's useless, Larry stays off-topic and Shane gives him sort of reason to shorten the podcast.
​
Nevertheless, on a positive note, many figures are cited to support the information disclosed.
​
So, In my opinion, this podcast is too long for the little information it discloses on the subject. The lack of professionalism is to be underlined.
